HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 c2154W
Colonel IVOR PHILIPPS

asked what amount was paid to the Yeomanry for loss of horses in the financial years 1908–9, 1909–10, and 1910–11; and what grant has been allowed the Territorial Associations on account of insurance of Yeomanry horses in the Army Estimates for 1911–12?

Colonel SEELY

I have no knowledge of the payments made by County Associations to officers or men of the Yeomanry in this connection; but the sums paid from Army Votes to Associations were approximately £3,400, £4,400, and £4,600 on account of Yeomanry horses. In calculating the new grants for 1911–12 allowance was made for the full expenditure under this head for all arms. There is no special grant for insurance of Yeomanry horses as distinct from other arms.
