HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 c2169W
Sir SEYMOUR KING

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that Welsh tin plates imported into Japan for the manufacture of oil-cans are subject under the new tariff to a duty of 30 per cent., while tin plates manufactured in the United States for the same purposes are admitted free of duty; and whether he will take steps to get remedied this discrimination against the British product?

Mr. BUXTON

No distinction is made in the new Japanese tariff between Welsh and other tin plates imported into Japan, whether for manufacture into oil-cans or for any other purpose.
