HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 c2172W
Mr. HARRY LAWSON

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware that in certain cases the Metropolitan Water Board have cut off the supply of water from premises during repairs without notice to the householder concerned; and whether he will introduce legislation to restrict the power to take such action?

Mr. BURNS

I am informed by the Metropolitan Water Board that their practice is to give notice, whenever it is possible to do so, that the water is to be cut off during the execution of repairs. In some cases, however, repairs have to be done at once, and it is impossible to give notice.
