HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 cc2174-5W
Mr. WEIR

asked the Lord Advocate, having regard to the fact that the school boards of Barvas, Lochs, and Uig, island of Lewis, incurred no expenditure last year for heating the 28 public schools under their control, if he will now state whether the schools were heated at the cost of the respective headmasters; and, if not, by whom was the fuel supplied?

Mr. URE

The Department are informed by the school boards in question that no expense in connection with the heating was incurred, so far as they are aware, by the headmaster of any of the schools within their districts; the fuel was supplied by the children in attendance.

Mr. WEIR

asked the Lord Advocate whether the school boards of Barvas and Uig, island of Lewis, have now arranged for each school in the parish to be provided with drinking water and furnished with cloak-room pegs?

Mr. URE

The Department are in communication on the subject with the school boards named.
