HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 c2165W
Sir SEYMOUR KING

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the scheme for the reorganisation of the Political Department of the Government of India has yet been completed, and, if so, when its details will be made known; and whether, in connection with such scheme, he will cause effect to be given to the suggestion contained in the Secretary of State's despatch. No. 15, dated 4th March, 1910, that officers of the Bombay Political Department below the rank of second grade political agents shall receive substantially the same terms as may be fixed for the corresponding grades in the Political Department of the Government of India?

Mr. MONTAGU

The scheme is now under consideration by the Secretary of State in Council, whose decision will, it is hoped, be communicated to the Government of India very shortly. There is no reason to doubt that the Government of India will give due weight to the suggestion to which the hon. Member refers.
