HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 cc2164-5W
Sir SEYMOUR KING

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that the sons of officers of the Indian Army, though stated to be eligible for King's cadetships, are limited to admission to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, and not, as in the case of the British Army, eligible for admission to Woolwich and there from for first appointments to the Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers; and whether he will take steps to get this distinction between the sons of officers of the Indian Army and sons of officers of the British Army abolished, so that both may be equally eligible for admission to Woolwich as well as to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst?

Mr. MONTAGU

Nominations to King's India cadetships are made in accordance with Section 35 of the Act for the better Government of India (21 and 22 Vict., cap. 106). Cadetships in the Artillery and Engineers are expressly excluded from the scope of this section.
