HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 c2151W
Mr. HACKETT

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that the local members of the Royal Irish Constabulary are shadowing a man named Philip McDonnell, Goresgrove, Urlingford, county Kilkenny; that they are daily making inquiries where he slept the previous night; whether they have any charge against McDonnell; and whether he will take steps to put an end to this conduct on the part of the Royal Irish Constabulary, and relieve Mr. McDonnell from further annoyance at the hands of the police?

Mr. BIRRELL

It would obviously be undesirable in the public interest to make any statement as to the inquiries which the police may think it necessary to make from time to time with regard to individuals.
