HC Deb 25 February 1910 vol 14 cc553-4W
Mr. BOWLES

asked the President of the Local Government Board what sums have been spent by the Godstone Rural District Council for legal expenses in each of the last ten years, distinguishing between sums which they have paid for their own costs and the sums which they have had to pay to other persons and bodies with whom they have been in unsuccessful litigation?

Mr. BURNS

I am not in possession of information which would enable me to give the particulars desired. I may, however, point out that under Section 58 (5) of the Local Government Act, 1894, it is open to any parochial elector of a parish in a rural district to inspect and take extracts from the books and accounts of the rural district council.
