HC Deb 25 February 1910 vol 14 c555W
Sir WILLIAM BULL

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is able to give the number of foreign agents who have been purchasing Army horses in England and Ireland for their respective Governments during the past twelve months; whether he can give the number of horses thus purchased and exported, and the average price per horse; and whether he will state the average price per horse paid by the buyers for the British Remount Department?

Mr. HALDANE

The reply to the first and second parts of the question is in the negative. As regards the last part of the question, the average price per horse paid by the purchasers of the Remount Department during the financial year 1908–9 was £44 18s. No complete statistics are available for a later period.
