HC Deb 28 April 1910 vol 17 cc755-7W
Mr. FRANCIS MEEHAN

asked the Chief Secretary whether the Estates Commissioners received an application from Michael Flynn or his son Tom, of Keshcar-rigan, county Leitrim, for reinstatement in the farm from which they were evicted in 1881 on the estate of Mrs. O'Reilly; and whether they would consider the application or provide a suitable farm elsewhere?

Mr. BIRRELL

As I have already informed the hon. Member in reply to a question asked by him last year, the Estates Commissioners have noted Michael Flynn's name for consideration in the allotment of untenanted land.

Mr. THOMAS O'DONNELL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland what is the cause of the delay in reinstating Mr. Daniel Murphy, evicted tenant, of Dromin, Killorglin, now resident at Shand Street, Tralee?

Mr. BIRRELL

Murphy's former holding has been purchased by the present occupier under the Land Purchase Acts. The Estates Commissioners have provisionally noted Murphy's name for consideration in the allotment of untenanted land.

Dr. O'NEILL

asked the Chief Secretary whether steps will be taken by the Estates Commissioners with a view to the reinstatement of Ellen M'Mahon, of Grave-more, county Armagh, an evicted tenant from the Charlemont estate, county Armagh, in her former holding?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners received from Ellen M'Mahon an application for reinstatement in a holding on this estate. As her application was received after 1st May, 1907, the date mentioned in the Evicted Tenants Act, 1907, it cannot be dealt with under that Act.

Mr. HAZLETON

asked the Chief Secretary whether the Estates Commissioners have received a copy of a resolution passed by the Louth County Council with reference to the case of Mr. Joseph Londen, evicted tenant, Castletown, county Louth; whether the Commissioners offered Mr. Londen a farm three times smaller than the one from which he was evicted; who is in possession of Mr. Londen's former holding; and whether the Commissioners will reconsider their decision and secure a farm for Mr. Londen?

Mr. BIRRELL

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to the question on the same subject asked by him on the 4th instant, to which I have nothing to add, save that the Estates Commissioners have received the resolution referred to, but are not prepared to reconsider their decision.

Mr. FLAVIN

asked the Chief Secretary whether he can state if the Estates Commissioners have received an application from Maurice Sheahan, an evicted tenant on the Ormaithwaite estate, living at Coil-bee, Listowel; and whether the Estates Commissioners will make an immediate inquiry into his case with a view of giving him a free grant for stock and buildings?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners have received an application for a grant from Sheahan who was reinstated by the landlord fourteen years ago. The application will be considered when the estate is being dealt with.
