HC Deb 28 April 1910 vol 17 c761W
Mr. O'MALLEY

asked the Attorney-General for Ireland whether the middlemen of the O'Kelly estate, Clonbur, county Galway, are entitled to charge the old rents since the agreement to purchase was signed in 1901; whether the reduction of 6s. 8d. in the pound agreed to in that year has been allowed by the middlemen to the tenants; whether he will state why the purchase of this estate has not been carried out; and what is the cause of the delay?

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

I am unable to express any opinion relating to the private relations between the middlemen and the tenants. I have no information as to whether or not the reduction referred to has been allowed. The Estates Commissioners have, I understand, declined to purchase this estate, which is the subject of proceedings in the Land Judge's Court; and the file has, I understand, at the request of the solicitor having carriage of the sale, been sent to the Congested Districts Board.
