HC Deb 20 April 1910 vol 16 cc2280-1W
Captain FABER

asked the Postmaster-General if he will state whether, in the event of an auxiliary postman who is in the Territorial Force placing his name on the list for foreign service, he would have the privilege of at once being placed on the established staff of the Post Office?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The answer is in the negative. If the hon. Member's suggestion is that auxiliary postmen in the circumstances he sets forth should be given whole time duties as postmen on the establishment I would point out that all the vacancies of this nature are required for ex-sailors and soldiers and for telegraph messengers.
