HC Deb 05 April 1910 vol 16 c395W
Mr. HACKETT

asked the Chief Secretary whether he can state the number of labourers' cottages and plots provided by the Gortnahoe, Slievardagh, Cashel, Tipperary, Thurles, Nenagh, and Roscrea rural district councils under the Labourers Act of 1906; whether he will state the number of cottages and plots completed and let to labourers in each of the foregoing rural districts on 1st March, 1910; and whether he can state the reason why it took over three years to complete them?

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

The Local Government Board cannot give the precise information asked for, but they inform me that loans have been sanctioned under the Labourers Act of 1906 for providing cottages in the several rural districts mentioned in the question as follows: Gortnahoe, 37; Slievardagh, 80; Cashel, 193; Tipperary (No. 1), 142; Thurles, 140; Nenagh, 149; Roscrea (No. 1), 78. The number of cottages and plots let in the several rural districts on 31st March, 1909, will be found on page 174 of the Board's last Annual Report, which has been presented to Parliament, and corresponding figures for 31st March last will be published in the Board's next Report. No complaint as to delay has been received by the Board from any of these rural districts.
