HC Deb 05 April 1910 vol 16 c391W
Mr. KERR-SMILEY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will state what was the amount of the Exchequer Grant made to the county Antrim in respect of labourers' cottages in the year ending in 1906; and what was the amount available from the same source in the year 1909–10?

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

I am informed that the total share of county Antrim in respect of the year 1905–6 was £4,551 18s. 7d. This sum included an unissued balance from previous years of £2,098 14s. 8d. The amount available in respect of the year 1909–10, on the new basis of distribution laid down by Section 18 of the Labourers Act of 1906, is £394 11s. 3d. Under that Section the various districts receive shares from the Exchequer Grant at a uniform rate per cottage for all cottages provided before 1st November, 1906. Previously the grant was distributed without any relation whatever to the number of cottages actually provided.
