HC Deb 04 April 1910 vol 16 cc178-9W
Mr. MULDOON

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that Mr. Archer, of Ballinacor, Rathdrum, reported in the month of February last that number of pheasants, his property, had been maliciously and wantonly destroyed; that he thereupon claimed compensation from the local authority; that, upon the local authority taking steps to resist the claim before the county court judge, Mr. Archer, on 2nd March, 1910, unconditionally withdrew the claim; will he state what report was made by the police on the affair; and whether the case in question was duly gazetted as an outrage?

Mr. BIRRELL

I am informed that about the middle of January last pheasant pen belonging to Mr. Archer was broken into and eighteen pheasants destroyed. Mr. Archer made claim for compensation, but subsequently withdrew it as he found that it had not been lodged within the statutory time. The case has not been recorded as an outrage.
