§ Mr. CLOUGHasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that Clause 73 of the Finance Bill, 1909, as now drafted, may prove a hardship to working men's purchases of the houses in which they live, and which usually cost less than £300 each; and whether he can see his way to modify this Clause so that the Stamp Duties shall remain as they are in the First Schedule to the Stamp Act, 1891, up to £300, and shall be double those specified in that Schedule for all amounts exceeding £300?
