HC Deb 04 November 1909 vol 12 cc2141-2W
Mr. DICKINSON

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the specifications for the supply of fireproof partitions to be used in the erection of the Norton Barracks, Worcester, and the barrack huts, Ordnance Depot, Dover, have been restricted to one firm in each case; and why the usual course has been departed from of inviting competition of the various firms on the War Office list who manufacture goods of the class required?

Mr. HALDANE

The usual course was departed from in these cases, as a certain type of partition was thought most suitable for the purpose of an experiment which was being made in light construction. The experiment being concluded, the specification is now open as regards the actual nature of the partition.
