§ Mr. SUMMERBELLasked the President of the Local Government Board in how many cases his Board has allowed to county councils the advantage of section 3 of the Education (Administrative Provisions) Act by extending the period for repayment of loans for educational purposes; whether he has received any protests, and, if so, how many, on account of this possible extension of time not being granted; and whether, in those cases where loans are at present in existence, it is possible to alter the time originally decided upon for repayment?
§ Mr. BURNSI have allowed to county councils and county councils have accepted the advantage offered by the section mentioned in 263 cases in which the528W loan was required to defray the cost of the purchase of land. All county councils, however, do not desire to avail themselves of the longer period permitted by the section. There are some half-dozen cases in which county councils have experienced dissatisfaction with the terms allowed for the repayment of loans for school buildings. The answer to the last part of the question must depend on the circumstances of each particular case.
