§ Mr. HOBHOUSEThere are no official estimates of the comparative taxable capacity of Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom. The only estimates of the kind with which my right hon. Friend is acquainted are those framed by various groups of Members of the Financial Relations Commission, for which I must refer the hon. Member to the Reports of that Commission. He will find that most of those Reports regard statistics either of exports or imports as an unsatisfactory basis for estimating taxable capacity.
