HC Deb 16 July 1909 vol 7 c2490W
Mr. BELLAIRS

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that the only popular information given as to how to become a naval officer is published by a firm of tailors; whether the Board will consider this question with a view to raising it to a higher level by officially supplying information on the lines of that given in reference to Sandhurst and Woolwich, such as would be useful to schools, parents, and guardians; and whether he will consider the advisability of supplying the information to the Public Schools Year Book, the Navy League Annual, and any other publications which may be willing to insert it?

Mr. McKENNA

Full information as to how to join the Navy as an officer is published in the quarterly Navy List, and printed Regulations are issued by the Admiralty to any person who applies. This information is regarded as quite sufficient, and an ample supply of candidates is forthcoming.
