§ Mr. McKENNAVarious schemes were prepared, and after consideration it was decided, on 16th July, 1907, to adopt the scheme which is now being carried out. The first Vote for its construction was taken in 1906–7. The sum of £10,000 was provided on account in that year. The estimated total cost of the lock and connected works is £940,000, exclusive of740W £65,000 for machinery. The main contract is due for completion in the autumn of 1912.
