§ Mr. REESasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the Secretary of State has any information regarding the extent to which the freedom of the Press, the right of public meeting, the right of trial by jury, the right of the subject not to be deprived of his liberty except after sentence by a court of justice have been conceded by Governments and Administrations in Asia other than the Government of British India; and, if the answer is in the affirmative, whether he has information showing what measure of success has attended such experiments?
