asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department

whether he has made the promised inquiry as to the connection of Mr. Thomas Abraham Bayliss, who has been placed on the Commission of the Peace for the county of Worcester, with a fraudulent company promotion; and, if so, with what result?

Mr. GLADSTONE

I am informed by the Lord Chancellor that he has caused inquiry to be made, as mentioned in my answer to the hon. Member's former question, but that he has not yet received all the information he requires. He hopes to receive it before long.
