HC Deb 04 August 1909 vol 8 cc1958-9W
Mr. GINNELL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the recommendations of the Commission on Irish Canals will be presented this year; and whether Parliament will be asked to legislate on the subject early or at all next Session?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I understand that the Royal Commission on Canals propose to report first on British waterways, and expect to do so before the end of the year. They hope to report on Irish waterways in the early months of next year, and until that Report has been received and considered no statement as to possible future legislation can be made.
