asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he can on the present occasion favourably consider the claim made for the appointment of some person with the experience and knowledge gained in the teaching profession for appointment to the existing vacancy on the Board of National Education in Ireland?

There are obvious difficulties in appointing a teacher in the service of the Board to a seat upon the Board; while to restrict the selection to teachers who have retired from the service of the Board would unduly limit the range of choice.
