To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many urban post offices have closed in the last 12 months. [189180]

Mr. Sutcliffe

I understand from Post Office Ltd. that in financial year 2003–04 there were a total of 1,129 urban post office closures, including 1,109 under the urban network reinvention programme. In the first quarter of this financial year, to the end of June, there were 246 urban post office closures. 206 of those closures were under the urban network reinvention programme.

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what recent representations she has received on the sub-post office urban closure programme. [189183]

Mr. Sutcliffe

DTI Ministers and officials regularly receive representations on a wide range of postal services issues, including the urban network reinvention programme.

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many Post Office branches have been proposed for closure by the Post Office under the Post Office reinvention programme; and how many have been subsequently confirmed for closure after the consultation process has been completed. [187843]
