Whether persons who have been issued with birth certificates under the proposed gender recognition legislation will, if sentenced to imprisonment, be accommodated in prisons alongside those of their biological sex or that stated on their reissued birth certificates. [HL616]
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department for Constitutional Affairs (Lord Filkin)In accordance with legal obligations, Her Majesty's Prison Service will accommodate prisoners who have been granted a gender recognition certificate in prisons appropriate to their acquired gender.
