As National Statistician I have been asked to reply to your question on the number of deaths in the previous three years for which Deep Vein Thrombosis was a cause and the number related to air travel. (6436)839WMost people who die as a result of Deep Vein Thrombosis do so as a result of Pulmonary Embolism. Either or both causes may be written on the death certificate. The figures for both causes combined in each of the three most recently available years are given in the table below. Figures are not available on the numbers related to air travel.
