Whether they will promote a new planning procedure for major transport projects such as Heathrow Terminal 5 and Thameslink 2000 to speed up decisions on their authorisation. [HL2039]

Proposals for streamlining the processing of major projects through the planning system were issued by the department for consultation in 1999. We shall announce how to proceed in the light of responses as soon as practicable.
