§ Mr. Timms[holding answer 4 July 2000]: The Treasury, including its agencies, have the following contracts with Electronic Data Systems (EDS):
Treasury (Office of Government Commerce)
Framework contract": EDS is responsible for managing the Government Catalogue procurement scheme (GCat) for the supply of IT commodity products to public sector organisations.Framework contract": Government Telecommunications Contracts service. EDS offers services covering all categories including mobile communications and electronic commerce.Inland Revenue
IT Services Agreement. EDS is responsible for the provision of the full range of IT services across the Department except the procurement of desktop hardware and other office IT equipment. In addition, EDS provide Inland Revenue with Voice Telecommunications advice and EDS personnel use Inland Revenue contracts to purchase Voice Telecommunications equipment and services for the Department.The contracts and framework arrangements held by other Government Departments with EDS are a matter for each individual Department.

Inland Revenue's net taxation receipts are published in "Financial Statistics" Table 2.1C, a publication of the Government Statistical Service.

§ Mr. Timms[holding answer 21 July 2000]: Information in the form requested is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. The Treasury's new Office of Government Commerce, which commenced operations on 1 April 2000, is giving a high priority to examining ways in which value for money from Government IT projects can be improved.
