asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether a civil legal aid system will be introduced in Guernsey in the course of this year, in accordance with the settlement reached in Application No. 30308/96 Faulkner v. United Kingdom (judgment of the European Court of Human Rights of 30 November 1999). [HL1991]

Lord Bach

The States of Guernsey is expected to legislate later this year to establish a civil legal aid system in Guernsey. It is hoped that the scheme can be brought into force as soon as possible thereafter.
