§ Mr. Alan HowarthThe selection criteria for the UK's European Capital of Culture will be determined by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State, in consultation with ministerial colleagues. An announcement will be made in due course. The UK's nomination for the European Capital of Culture will be formally approved by the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament.
