Member for Leicester, South (Mr. Marshall) of 5 March 1999,Official Report, columns 940–42, on the General Affairs Council, if he will place in the Library a copy of the paper presented by the presidency on work in progress to prepare for entry into force of the Amsterdam Treaty; what was the nature of the discussion on the Schengen Acquis; when the Committee of Permanent Representatives plans to meet to consider the paper; and if he will make a statement. I have arranged for a copy of the Presidency paper to be placed in the Library of the House. There was no detailed discussion of it at the 22 February General Affairs Council. The paper was a report on the existing situation, and there are no plans for further discussion of it.
