To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the number of low-income families in(a) the United Kingdom and (b) Scotland who will benefit from the working families tax credit. [72430]

We estimate that in the first full year, 1.3 million families in the UK will benefit from the help given by the Working Families Tax Credit and of these 130,000 of them will be families in Scotland.
