§ Mr. MudieMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Employment made a total of 68 appointments and re-appointments to non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs) in 1997–98. Of these, 48 were men and 20 were women. Three were from ethnic minorities. Included in the total of 68, are the appointments or re-appointments of seven chairs, all of whom were men. None was from an ethnic minority.
In 1998–99, my right hon. Friend made a total of 142 appointments and re-appointments to NDPBs. Of these, 101 were men and 41 were women. Nineteen were from ethnic minorities. Included in that total of 142, are the appointments or re-appointments of eight chairs, one of whom was a woman. None was from an ethnic minority.
