§ Mr. ChaytorTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to ensure that police statistics on sexual abuse offences identify the nature of the relationship between victim and offender. [72050]
§ Mr. BoatengAt present, the data are not collected centrally. However, work is in hand through the National Strategy on Police Information Systems, which will allow offender-victim relationships to be examined centrally in due course. Ad hoc information has previously been collected and published in publications such as "Victims of violent crime recorded by the police England and Wales 1990–1994" by Lorraine Watson, which was published in July 1996; a copy is in the Library.
