Mr. Timms

Task forces and review bodies do not incur any expenditure other than staffing costs, which are met from within existing Departmental running costs.

This Department's Headquarters expenditure on focus groups in general e.g. exploring attitudes of specific clients and/or staff groups, is as follows:

1998–991 190,000
1Estimated

The cost of publications and other publicity not included in the previous answer is as follows:

Non-departmental bodies do not incur expenditure on the items listed in my previous Answer.

Information for the Central Office of Information is not available as it is not possible to disaggregate the expenditure on relevant work carried out by the Central Office of Information from the total amount spent on publicity.

The Department and its agencies use the Internet as one of a variety of methods to communicate with the public. The DSS website is updated regularly and includes separate webpages for the individual agencies and others. The website covers numerous topics and contains over 3,000 pages providing a range of information on benefits, complaints procedures and corporate documentation such as press releases, Ministerial speeches and Agency business plans.
