To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what consideration he has given to changing the sites of measurement for snow days in calculating the standard spending assessment for Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council. [68378]

We considered the proposals put forward by Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council for changing the weather stations whose records are used in the calculation of their Standard Spending Assessment.

We concluded that, if the weather stations were to be reconsidered, it should be done on a basis that dealt with all local authorities consistently, with the benefit of meteorological advice.
