HL Deb 22 October 1998 vol 593 cc182-3WA
Lord Dean of Beswick

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many American computer companies have contracts with departments of state; with which departments; and what is the value of these contracts both by department and globally. [HL3410]

The Minister of State, Cabinet Office (Lord Falconer of Thoroton)

The Government's policy on the procurement of IT goods and services, as with all government purchasing, is to obtain the best value for money. Information on contracts placed with American companies is not held centrally and can only be provided at disproportionate cost.
