§ Mr. PatersonTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the number of British jobs dependent upon trade between the United Kingdom and Chile. [56570]
§ Mr. Wilson[holding answer 28 October 1998]: UK trade in goods with Chile during 1997 totalled nearly £600,000. Both exports and imports were spread across a wide range of sectors, with machinery of various types heading UK exports and non-ferrous metals being Chile's main export. However, no figures are available showing the number of jobs in the UK dependent on trade with Chile.
