To ask the President of the Board of Trade what plans she has for the Council for Science and Technology. [34934]

On behalf of my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister, I am pleased to announce today that, following extensive consultations and review, we are re-establishing the Council for Science and Technology with new terms of reference and the appointment of 14 independent members to serve as our premier advisory body on science and technology. Copies have been placed in the Library of the House.

I am delighted that we will be able to call on such a highly talented, experienced and distinguished people for independent, high level advice and very much look forward to working with them and with Sir Robert May as my Deputy.
