Mr. Maude

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he received in the period 9 April to 24 July regarding the VAT (Sports, Sports Competitions and Physical Education) Order 1998. [53333]

I have received a number of representations which have been taken into account by Customs and Excise.

Mr. Maude

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the total revenue forgone from 1 April to 30 June as a result of the withdrawal of the VAT (Sport, Sports Competitions and Physical Education) Order 1998. [53331]

Customs and Excise estimate the avoidance of VAT during that period to have been £2 million.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he expects the redrafting of the VAT (Sport, Sports Competitions and Physical Education) Order 1998 to be completed; and if he will make a statement. [53335]

I have received a number of representations concerning the VAT treatment of sporting facilities and the VAT (Sport, Sports Competitions and Physical Education) Order 1998.
