HC Deb 31 July 1998 vol 317 c862W
Mr. Hancock

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to assess the recommendations relating to Employment in the Public Service, as contained in the document Proposals for Change, submitted to him by the Commission for Racial Equality, on the reform of the Race Relations Act 1976. [53242]

Mr. Mike O'Brien

The Commission for Racial Equality's Third Review of the Race Relations Act 1976 contains a large number of proposals for amending the Act. My right hon. Friend announced on 23 June that the Home Office would welcome views on these and other proposals he has received. This consultation period will run until 6 November. The Government will reach a view on all the proposals once the consultation has finished.
