§ Mr. RookerI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the list of suppliers of non-genetically modified soya and maize that is freely available on the MAFF internet web pages. Details of genetically modified foods assessed as safe to market under the terms of the EC Novel Foods Regulations are published in press releases and in the annual reports of the Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes.

Mr. Alan SimpsonTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what tests are being undertaken on the interactions between genetically modified crops and the range of currently available fertilisers and herbicides, and on their consequential effects upon(a) human health and (b) biodiversity. § Mr. RookerA wide range of data to assess the impact on human health and the environment is being generated from field trials in which genetically modified and conventional crops are grown under standard agronomic conditions. For herbicide tolerant crops this includes treatment with the herbicide to which they are tolerant and other herbicides.
