To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement about the progress made on reform of the CAP in respect of the beef sector during the UK presidency of the EU. [51705]

Mr. Rooker

I am pleased to be able to tell the right hon. Member that good progress was achieved. We presided over the first substantial political discussion of the reform proposals and, by the end of the our presidency, officials had virtually completed the first technical read-through of the Commission's detailed proposals.
