§ Mr. BeithTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the certified normal accommodation for each prison in Scotland(a) in 1998 and (b) for each of the next seven years. [51405]
§ Mr. McLeishThe concept of "certified normal accommodation" is not applied in the Scottish Prison Service. However, the official design capacities for prisons in Scotland together with projections to 1 April 2001 are as set out. Projections beyond that date are not available and will be dependent on a review of capacity in the light of prisoner number forecasts and the outcome of the Comprehensive Spending Review.
