§ Mr. ByersThe following table gives the number of vacancies and the vacancy rates for classroom teachers in maintained nursery, primary and secondary schools in England, at 16 January 1997. Subject information for nursery/primary teacher vacancies is not collected because all primary teachers are trained to deliver the full range of national curriculum subjects. Vacancies for headteacher and deputy headteacher posts are not included.
