Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to ensure a full investigation into circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Ricky Reel. [29494]

Mr. Michael

This investigation, which is an operational matter for the Commissioner, is continuing. An investigation into the Metropolitan Police's handling of this case is being undertaken by Mr. Peter Fahy, an Assistant Chief Constable from Surrey Police, overseen by the independent Police Complaints Authority. My right hon. Friend has discussed the case with the Commissioner.
