To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for what reasons he intends to restrict the availability of vitamin B6. [29383]

[holding answer 13 February 1998]: The Government's decision to limit the level of vitamin B6 in dietary supplements sold under food law was taken in the light of advice from the Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment and from the Food Advisory Committee, that prolonged intake of high doses of vitamin B6 may be harmful.
