To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people received treatment from (i) general practitioners and (ii) NHS hospitals in Scotland for(a) bronchitis, (b) influenza, (c) pneumonia, (d) hypothermia and (e) asthma for each month in the last five years. [25823]

[holding answer 27 January 1998]: Information on the number of patients with a main diagnosis of bronchitis, influenza, pneumonia, hypothermia and asthma who were discharged from hospital in-patient and day case care in the 5 years to 1996–97 is provided in the table. Data on the numbers of patients who received treatment from general practitioners for these conditions are not available centrally.
